End of the mine?

We’re cheered to hear of a momentous decision from the new government: It has agreed – the decision to approve the Whitehaven Coal Mine was illegal! This means that there will no longer be government lawyers fighting alongside West Cumbria Mining at the High Court hearing next week, when South Lakes Action on Climate Change and Friends of the Earth once again challenge the decision.

We can’t celebrate yet though since West Cumbria Mining are still chasing this insane project, and we’re still to hear of any hard proposals to support alternative, sustainable new jobs for Whitehaven
